Is it safe to come in to the dental office? That maybe be one of the many questions on every patient’s mind right now. While dental procedures due require close proximity, proper precautions will prevent spread of any infectious disease. Since the 1980’s, Dentists have been using universal precautions in daily practice, which means we disinfect and protect ourselves as well as our Conejo Valley patients with the same protocols regardless of medical histories.
In today’s current Ventura County climate, we are continuing our universal precautions to disinfect surfaces, chairs and equipment properly. High sterilization standards are maintained such that weekly tests insure the ability to kill the strongest of spores (much hardier and stronger than viruses.)
To help protect our Conejo Valley patients, Dr. Weiss and his team have placed HEPA filters in each treatment room and reception area as well as replaced air conditioning return filters with high grade filtration. The increased air flow and movement within the confined treatment rooms and office, allows for safe air while our patient’s are being treated. Every patient and team member is screened each visit to the office to prevent any unintentional exposures.
We are lucky that within the Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks areas, we have had less of an outbreak related to current health care scares. As such, the Conejo Valley community is as safe as any other in Southern California.
Lastly, the Centers for Disease Control have not identified patient to patient, provider to patient or vice versa infections within the dental office around the country. In the Conejo Valley, dental offices have been busy treated patient’s dental needs for over 3 months without any incidence paralleling the national data from the CDC.
We understand our patient’s concern about safety and want to assure them that we are a safe environment. We do also know that some patients are not ready to return visiting the dental office. We want to make sure that patient’s are not putting off a visit to the dentist and are in pain, so please do not hesitate to give the office a call at (805) 497-1644 to discuss the safety of the office and your dental pain.
